Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” – Concept drawings video

What does infinity look like? How does one represent a trip through endless time and space? Shown here for the first time is a selection of concept paintings from the hundreds created by the art department of “2001.” Inspired by Surrealism and Fantasy art, a few of these designs found their way into the film, but most were deemed too familiar by Kubrick, who eventually decided on a viscous light show to evoke the journey.
